At Quality Fur Dressing, quality is not just a buzzword or vague concept – it is a data-driven process built into every step of our operations. From pre-processing to tanning to delivery, we utilize key metrics and procedures to ensure the highest standards are met for every hide we process.

Quality Control
Inspecting Skins
Our quality focus begins with analyzing each hide we receive. All incoming hides are thoroughly examined, graded, and documented by our receiving team. We track every skin that arrives using the latest technology to monitor each skin via video along each step of our tanning process. This is where we believe quality starts — the moment the shipment arrives at our door.

Pelts with damage, defects, or irregularities are quickly identified, photographed, indexed, and separated.
Processing
Precise temperature controls, chemical concentration checks, and timed processing ensure our tanning procedures uniformly penetrate and preserve each hide. We tailor our tanning times and formulas based on the animal species, size, thickness, and condition. Constant measurement and adjustments prevent under or over-processing.

Serve your hunters with multiple trophy harvests each season
The faster turnaround also lets you regularly serve hunters with multiple trophy harvests each season. These loyal, bulk customers are essential for a growing taxidermy business. And they’ll appreciate you consistently delivering their mounts within 120 days.

Visually and Physically Tested
Throughout tanning, hides are visually inspected and physically tested by our quality technicians to validate proper softness, pliability, stretch resistance, moisture content, and pH balance. If any variable falls outside our tight specifications, the hides are flagged and re-processed until compliant.
Proprietary Checklist Assessment
Every tanned hide undergoes a quality checklist assessment from the moment the skins arrive at Quality Fur Dressing. The outcomes we produce include:
This data ensures that only quality furs that pass our inspection are released to taxidermists.

Pre-Shipping
Before shipping, finished orders are verified against purchase orders, and photographs of each processed hide are added to the customer’s digital files. Our Finishing Department checks the brushing, tanning, grooming, and cleanliness before the skins are transferred to the Shipping Department.

Packaging
Our packaging process is the step most often complimented by our customers when they receive their orders. It is a thorough process that is validated to prevent exposure to moisture or damage in transit. We also track with video technology every item that goes into your shipping box to ensure there are no missed skins and helps us provide accountability with your orders.
We have our customers provide feedback on the quality and consistency of each order.
Shipping
For shipping, we highly recommend UPS. We have a special partnership with UPS where we pass huge savings back to our customers. You can check out UPS pricing and pickup here when arranging to ship your tans to us.

Quality
Ongoing improvement by our team is critical to a quality outcome. Customer feedback metrics are aggregated and analyzed to identify areas for process refinement. Our R&D team trials new techniques and materials to enhance the quality and sustainability of your furs.
